UPDATE: As of October 2017: we are just recently aware that a number of Credit Unions in the south have received demand letters regarding website non-compliance. These institutions are now scrambling to figure out the best ways to respond and fix any issues in a compressed timeframe. Please, do not treat this ADA compliance requirement as an issue to wait and see on... the time for action isn't next month or next quarter, the time is now! ---- Recently we began working with several credit union clients to find good solutions for fully assessing their CU website’s ADA compliance. One point we've learned is that the WCAG 2.0 AA will be the standard for Financial institutions to measure themselves against. But from there things get a bit murky!
One question we’ve been getting A LOT lately is around an issue that our team here at Social Stairway didn’t initially have a good answer for, and that is how to ensure that a credit union website is ADA compliant. This concern has begun to gain even more traction, highlighted by the recent warning from CUNA Mutual Group. When we began researching the topic we found a wide variety of potential solutions and varying answers to how CUs were tackling the ADA compliance issue. We also asked a few clients about how they were dealing with this new compliance topic.
